SADC Framework for Harmonisation of Allocation of Radio FrequencySpectrum for Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR)addresses only one critical element, namely; the harmonisation of radio frequency spectrum that could be used in the context of PPDR, as defined by theITU.
The benefits brought by spectrum harmonisation are increased potential for interoperability thereby affording a broader market base and increased volume in equipment production resulting in economies of scale and expanded equipment availability, improved spectrum management and planning, enhanced cross-border coordination and circulation of equipment.
